Between war and implicit arrangement, the compromise creates a special kind of social relations. He designs a space and a time when the actor who commits acceptshimself as belonging to a plural world, involved in an historywhich exceeds him, neither alone or omnipotent, nor subjected or powerless. It is therefore important, beyond the description of exchange and negotiation process, to emphasize what characterizes him deeper : an identity reconfiguration work, and a device of joint orientation of a common future between opposite partners.

Entre la guerre et l'arrangement implicite, le compromis instaure une nature particulière de relations sociales. Il dessine un espace et un temps où l'acteur qui s'y engage s'accepte comme appartenant à un monde pluriel, partie prenante d'une histoire qui le dépasse, ni seul ni tout puissant, ni soumis ni impuissant. Aussi est-il important, au-delà de la description des processus d'échange et de négociation, de mettre l'accent sur ce qui le caractérise plus profondément :un travail de reconfiguration identitaire,et un dispositif d'orientation conjointe d'un futur commun entre partenaires opposés.
