Des élèves comme les autres : les élèves exclus temporairement en France

Abstract : The school is no longer the prerogative of the management of issues related to school violence. In France, many schools’ external devices grow to handle the supposedly toughest students. This is the case of the welcoming measures for temporarily excluded collegians (secondary-school pupil), a measure characterized by the intervention of professionnal social worker. The use of this measure among the hardest available for the teaching staff is supposed to be exceptional, reserved for the toughest cases. The establishment of these local systems is built on the assumption of excluded students potentially at risk of dropping out, which are already involved in criminal activities that also affect the behavior difficulties in school. However, our survey tends to prove that the initial target is far from being achieved, since students temporarily excluded and accommodated in these structures do not seem to differentiate from others, whether from the point of view of those devices holders, but also from the point of view of their relationship with the school.
