Instabilités convectives dans un modèle thermique du séchage d'une solution

Abstract : The onset of flow patterns during the drying of solvent/solute solutions can lead to non-homogeneous deposits. In previous works, transitions from diffusive to convective regimes were studied using low magnitude random perturbations around the initial state at rest [5, 6]. In this study, the origin of the perturbations is more physics, since they result from a thermal exchange between the fluid and the surroundings through the lateral boundaries of the small dish. The destabilization mechanism of the fluid mixture is analyzed with the help of spatiotemporal diagrams of the velocity at the liquid-gas interface. Finally, we show that the diffusive-convective thresholds are in good agreement with earlier works.
