Economic and social cohesion in the European Union: the impact of Member States' own policies

Abstract : This report has focused on two principal categories of government spending that impact on economic and social cohesion in the EU Member States: the automatic transfers induced by government taxation and expenditures; and the spending policies pursued proactively by governments, whether or not with cohesion in mind.
