Decomposition of large incompressible deformations
Résumé
All the possibilities are first examined and identified for a given large incompressible deformation to be decomposed into three perpendicular simple shears preceded or followed by a rotation. The perpendicular simple shears involved in this decomposition has the characteristic that their product is characterized by a triangular matrix with unit diagonal components. The decomposition of a large incompressible deformation is then shown to include as a particular case the one of a small incompressible deformation into three perpendicular simple shears, in the sense that the former can be used to deduce the latter.
